Abstract
Using the superoperator formalism we demonstrate how the electron propagator can be obtained consistent through third order in the electronic interaction and we establish the connection to the corresponding diagrammatic perturbation expansion of the self‐energy. We further indicate some deficiencies in the third order theory of Simons and Smith for calculating ionization potentials and electron affinities. Keywords
