Abstract
In memoryless quantization, neither the encoder nor the decoder has memory, and quantization noise shaping is not used. We show that, by constraining the parameter dynamics during quantization at the encoder, the performance of speech coders can be enhanced significantly without adding to the delay. The proposed method retains the advantages of memoryless quantization, including channel-error robustness. Keywords
