Abstract
Pregnanediol (Pl) excretion following gonadotropin treatment was demonstrated in 2 women with amenorrhoea. Pl excretion was followed throughout pregnancy in 2 women liable to habitual abortion. One was treated with dienoestrol in large doses, the other received no hormone treatment. Pregnancy was maintained in both patients in spite of a very low Pl excretion. Pl excretion was followed in 7 patients with toxaemia of various degrees of severity. There was no correlation between excretion values and the severity of the toxemia or the fate of the fetus. One patient had the corpus luteum removed on the 62nd day of pregnancy. Pregnancy was maintained in spite of the absence of Pl excretion during the first few days following operation. Keywords
