Abstract
The parameters of the resonance in electron scattering by potassium ground-state atoms are obtained by the use of experimental data on the self-broadening of the Rydberg states. These parameters are close to the results of a variational calculation. The possibility of the extension of the method to other atoms and molecules is discussed. Keywords
