Abstract
Pseudococcus mandio sp. n. is described from the roots of cassava in Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil. In Paraguay, it is probably associated with wilting of the plant and, in common with most mealybugs, it appears to be a phloem-feeder. There is evidence of sufficient phloem in the roots, and this may be identical with the phloem of the stems. The mealybug is related to P. affinis (Maskell) in possessing swollen hind femora with numerous translucent pores, and discoidal pores around the eyes, but the oral rim ducts are either few or absent entirely. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
