Characteristics of the Inferior-Cava Venogram in Retroperitoneal Cancer

Abstract
REPORTS from diverse clinics1 2 3 have indicated the usefulness of the venographic study of the iliac and inferior-vena-cava system in venous occlusive disease and extrinsic disease in the retroperitoneum. For the latter purpose, caval venography is one of several technics available. Others include simple roentgenography, pyelography, visualization after air injection and indirect visualization by barium studies of the gastrointestinal tract.Venography can be most useful if the configuration of the normal pattern and its modification by disease are well appreciated. It is the purpose of this paper to demonstrate and emphasize the characteristics of the venogram that we have found significant. . . .
