Abstract
With its passage of the Education of the Handicapped Act (PL 94–142) and its amendments, Congress mandated that an annual report be submitted presenting information regarding the progress made in the implementation of special education programs for the handicapped. Data from the Ninth Annual Report to Congress on the Implementation of the Education of the Handicapped Act (1987) are analyzed and discussed here. Information contained in the Ninth Annual Report is especially relevant to the practice of speech-language pathology and audiology in the public schools.
