Abstract
Some theoretical problems related to coherent noise elimination by time averaging are presented. Conditions for effective noise elimination are derived for two simple cases. Theoretical calculations, concerning the unidirectional averaging method, which is suitable for application in laser interferometer systems, are presented. In the calculations, the coherent noise is assumed to consist of dark or bright spots on a uniform background. Keywords
