Spontaneous Platelet Aggregation in Myeloproliferative Disorders

Abstract
Spontaneous platelet aggregation has been studied both in normal subjects and in a group of patients affected by chronic myelogenous leukaemia, myelofibrosis, polycythaemia vera and thrombocythaemia. Cold-induced spontaneous aggregation occurs both in normals and in patients. Platelet-rich plasma derived from 13 out of 23 patients, spontaneously aggregatedeven when kept at 23 °C. Spontaneous platelet aggregation was inhibited by aspirin
