Abstract
From August, 1961, to September, 1963, 10 mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) from 2 study areas in west-central Alberta were examined for parasites. Two species of ticks, 2 species of cestodes, 8 species of nematodes from the digestive tract, and 1 species of lungworm were found. Ticks were more abundant on prime winter and early spring goat range than on similar areas not on winter range. Animals less than 1 year old had fewer species of parasites than older ones. The presence of the nematode Teladorsagia davtiani consitutes a new host record for this parasite. Although ail goats over 2 weeks of age that were examined had parasite infestations, no evidence of mortality directly attributable to any parasite or group of parasites was found. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
