Abstract
The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), was able to colonize asters, Callistephus chinensis Nees., infected with aster yellows virus and flowers of healthy plants, but could not survive on foliage of healthy asters. Aphids “conditioned” for 44 days on yellowed asters appeared to survive somewhat longer on healthy asters than aphids from the stock culture on cabbage. However, the conditioned aphids did not increase as rapidly on yellowed asters as the control aphids from cabbage. Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) maintained its numbers on yellowed asters but survived only 3 to 7 days on healthy asters. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
