Abstract
The effects of inclination of stiffeners on the instability of pressurized cylinder under pure bending is studied. The stiffeners are mounted at various angles from 0–90 deg with the longitudinal direction. Finite deflection and initial imperfections in the strain-displacement relations are considered. The Ritz method is used for the solution. Tests have been made applying pure bending at the ends of shells with stiffeners inclined at 30, 45, and 60 deg. Empirical data are plotted to compare with the numerical results.
