Abstract
Bisexuals encounter bias and discrimination in many facets of their lives. Before therapists can adequately provide services for bisexuals, they must become acquainted with the specific strengths and plights of bisexuals. Because of statistics that reveal a significant and growing population of bisexuals, more specifically the married bisexual, a cognitive-behavioral couples therapy approach focused on bisexuals is examined. This therapeutic approach allows the therapist to deal with the behaviors, cognitions, and emotions specific to a bisexual couple. Communication training, emotional expressiveness training, and cognitive restructuring are proposed interventions that focus on the difficulties encountered in bisexual relationships. Based on the needs of bisexual couples, cognitive-behavioral couples therapy proves to be an applicable approach to therapy. Keywords
