Abstract
We report the first observation of coupled modes of nonradiative surface plasmons excited by photons in a free-standing thin metal film. Excitation of these modes was achieved by introducing shallow periodic corrugations on the surfaces of a 44-nm-thick silver film, and the plasmon resonance absorption of photons was detected by a photoacoustic method. Keywords
