Abstract
A steady state of helium is considered near the superfluid transition under heat flow. A surface transition is predicted to take place in the presence of temperature gradient. The corresponding surface critical temperature is found to be in fair agreement with the temperature at an interface of He I and He II under heat flow which was observed by Bhagat et al. The steady state variance of the complex order parameter fluctuations is also examined in the mean field approximation.
