Abstract
This paper deals with the numerical solution of the two-dimensional quasi-static conduction equation governing conduction controlled rewetting of hot surfaces, based on the two-region model. The derivation of the discretisation equation is based on the control volume formulation. Solutions have been obtained in terms of non-dimensional parameters. Relationship between Bi and Pe numbers have been obtained for different values of the non-dimensional temperature 0°. Based on these solutions values of wet region heat transfer coefficient have been evaluated from available experimental data. Rewetting velocities predicted based on these values have been found to agree reasonably well with experimental data. The predicted values of rewetting velocity have been found to be not very sensitive to the assumed value of the sputtering temperature. Keywords
