Determination of Decomposition Potentials of Fused Salt Mixtures Containing Tantalum Oxide

Abstract

Current‐potential diagrams for various fused mixtures of potassium chloride with tantalum oxide and potassium fluotantalate have been determined. Decomposition potential data from the above source are presented for fourteen different fused compounds, to each of which Ta₂O₅ has been added. It is suggested that the determination of current‐potential data by the direct method can be used to obtain information regarding the suitability of fused salts as solvents in electrodeposition.
