Abstract
Negative-carrier mobility measurements have been made in a number of straight-chain paraffins, taking due account of induced liquid motion in interpreting the experimental data. The mobility values so found - 15 ± 05 × 10−4 cm2 v−1 s−1 for n-hexane, 24±05 × 10−4 cm2 v−1 s−1 for n-heptane, 3±1 × 10−4 cm2 v−1 s−1 for n-octane and 21±05 × 10−4 cm2 v−1 s−1 for n-decane - are lower than the generally accepted values, and it is postulated that they may pertain to oxygen ions trapped in clouds of polarized host liquid. Keywords
