Abstract
The purpose of this clinical summary is to attempt an evaluation of the use and effectiveness of post-anesthetic communication with the surgical patient in the recovery room. The author concludes that the personality of the surgeon, the patient-surgeon interpersonal relationship, the validity of pre- and post-hypnotic suggestion, and the climate of faith and hope created by the friendly and confident surgeon all play a vital role in programming the patient's speedy and uneventful convalescence. Keywords
