Abstract
Thyroidal iodoamino acids can be separated by chromatography on columns of controlled-pore glass using as an eluting solvent a mixture of low-boiling liquids and ammonium hydroxide. The elution pattern of iodoamino acids from the column suggests a fractionation mechanism dependent upon the adsorptive properties of the glass and the partition of each solute between the organic and the inorganic phase of the eluting mixture. Good recovery of the eluted iodoamino acids in a pure form was obtained by low-temperature evaporation of the solvents at reduced pressure. Reproducibility of column performance was satisfactory. Keywords
