Abstract
The article gives a résumé of the functional anatomy of the shoulder. The sections include comparative anatomy, structure and function of the sternoclavicular, acromioclavicular, scapulothoracic, and glenohumeral joints; scapulohumeral rhythm; changes in muscles from lower primates to man; rotator cuff, scapular and humeral force couples; bicipital mechanism; electromyographic studies; downward dislocation of the humerus; force requirements and force curves; and innervation and nerve loss.Keywords
