The Distribution of Syphacia obvelata in the Intestine of Mice during Their Migratory Period

Abstract
By mixing negative mice with heavily Syphacia-infected "source" mice for 24 hours, it was found that maximal numbers of gravid worms appeared in the lower colon when the animals were sacrificed 12 days after infection. Since each worm deposits an average of 300 eggs on exposure to air or in saline solution, ample supply of infectious Syphacia eggs are thus available for experimental studies. Eggs macerated from female worms recovered from the cecum of mice failed to develop in vitro.
