METHOD FOR PREVENTING CLOTTING OF WHOLE MILK AND MILK REPLACER BY CHYMOSIN IN CALF ABOMASUM

Abstract
Treatment of whole milk or milk replacer with pancreatin for 1 h at 39 °C before feeding to young calves prevented chymosin-casein clotting of the diets in the abomasum. This procedure should be a useful tool for determing the importance of milk clotting to digestion in the preruminant calf. Key words: Calf, clotting, milk replacer
