Abstract
The discovery of two new passive Q‐switching agents for use in the CO2 laser is reported. These gases, chlorotrifluoroethylene and difluorodichloromethane, permit extension of the range of wavelengths over which the passively Q‐switched CO2 laser can be operated. Saturation intensities and small signal absorption coefficients were measured for these gases. Keywords
