Transplantation Antibody Associated with First-Set Renal Homografts

Abstract
Summary: Antibodies were detected in the circulation of rats undergoing first-set renal homograft rejection as early as 3 days after transplantation. These antibodies were shown to be present in both purified IgG and IgM fractions of serum and to adhere primarily to the ultracentrifuged sediment of homogenized kidney, presumably to histocompatibility antigens. Parenteral injection of IgG fractions produced perivascular mononuclear infiltrates in the kidney. The lesions were indistinguishable from those accompanying early rejection.
