Abstract
On the assumption that androgens, testicular or adrenal in origin, activate prostatic cancer, the anti-androgenic action of several steroids was tested in rats by determination of their inhibitory effect on prostatic growth in the normal animal and in the castrate when administered together with testosterone. Estrogenic steroids, such as estradiol, reduces androgenic action, especially endogenous action. The compound 19-nor-ethinyl-testosterone was highly effective as inhibitor of androgen of endogenous action. The mode of action remains to be determined. Keywords
