Abstract
EDITOR—A doctor has received £460 000 compensation for a mental health problem which she developed after a needlestick injury at work. I too have had needlestick injuries at work; I have also been physically assaulted by patients three times. On one occasion I was half strangled and repeatedly beaten over the head with a piece of broken furniture and kicked so that my body was covered with bruises.
