Abstract
The first application of sustained fast valving for nuclear units is planned for units 1 and 2 at the Tenneseee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. The proposed turbine cycle and the advantages of sustained fast valving to the power system are presented. The turbine cycle simulation is discussed and the effects of feedwater heater energy storage on short term power transients are demonstrated. The mechanical reliability of the turbine and related equipment is determined from the turbine cycle simulation. Keywords
