Abstract
Therapeutic assays with topical triamcinolone acetonide (Aristocort acetonide, TA) in 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.5%, and 2% preparations were carried out in 186 cases of various dermatoses. In the majority of cases 0.1% TA (actually Aristocort cream and ointment) was somewhat more effective than 1% hydrocortisone. Increase of the concentration of TA from 0.1% to 0.2% and 0.5% apparently improved the therapeutic results in about 1/3 of the cases of common benign dermatoses. One-half percent TA improved relatively superficial lesions of psoriasis which usually do not respond to 1% hydrocortisone, but was not effective in heaped-up psoriasis lesions. Two per cent TA did not increase the therapeutic effects in the dermatoses tested. The result of 0.5% TA in a case of mycosis fungoides (pre-tumoral stage) was impressive. Keywords
