Abstract
We present a strategy for reducing the number of knots of a given B-spline function without perturbing the spline by more than a given tolerance. The number and location of the remaining knots is determined automatically. Knot removal can be used successfully to fit a spline to functions and data. We illustrate this with several examples.Keywords
