Abstract
A reversal type feeding trial with 6 week experimental and 1 week preliminary periods was conducted with 16 lactating dairy cows. When mixed cereal grain screenings proportionately replaced 30% of other ingredients except linseed oil meal in the concentrated rations, average daily yield of 4% fat-correct milk was 33.1 lb. as compared with 33.9 lb. for the control rations. The difference was not statistically significant (5% level). The cows on the control ration consumed more total digestible nutrients than those on the screenings ration. Animals on the control ration gained 0.2 lb./cow/day more than those on the screenings ration, but the difference was not significant (5% level). Keywords
