Abstract
A ciliate of the family Ancistrocom-idae (Holotricha, Thigmotricha) parasitic on the tentacles of Phoronopsis viridis in Bodega Bay and Tomales Bay, Calif., is described as Heterocineta phoronopsidis. Like H. janickii, H. phoronopsidis has 8 ciliary rows, but these are not restricted to as narrow an area on the ventral surface as those of H. janickii. H. phoronopsidis is further distinguished by having a shallow groove-like depression originating on the left side of the body near the ant. end and extending posteriorly along the dorsal surface close to the left margin. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
