Abstract
The thermal stabilities of Mo(CO)6 and subcarbonyl species encaged in a zeolite were found to depend markedly on the Si/Al ratio and cation involved. A highly selective formation of cis-2-butene was observed for the hydrogenation of butadiene over the subcarbonyl species. These thermal and catalytic properties of the carbonyls are correlated to the basicity of the zeolite. Keywords
