Abstract
Addition of 1 and 10 μg but not 0.1 μg/ml ovine prolactin to cultured porcine granulosa cells grown in 48 hr suspension culture led to a significant dose-dependent increase in accumulation of material capable of inhibiting maturation of cultured cumulus-enclosed porcine oocytes. Material also was accumulated which inhibited monolayer formation by cultured granulosa cell clumps. Progesterone secretion was unaltered. These data indicate that prolactin may act upon the granulosa cell to enhance its secretion of non-steroidal regulators. Keywords
