Abstract
There has been considerable controversy as well as concern over the effects of tributyl tin used in antifouling paint on the freshwater, estuarial and marine environment. This paper sets out the action taken by the UK Government to regulate the most damaging types of antifouling paint and describes the follow-up studies that are in hand to assess the effectiveness of these controls. Keywords
