Abstract
Eli Heckscher's work on mercantilism, impressive in both weight and content, which appeared in two parts in 1931, may be his foremost contribution to the history of economic doctrine.1 In this work Heckscher explicitly affirms his view of mercantilism as a coherent politico-economic system, to which corresponds a set of ideas embracing a range of economic thinkers.
