Abstract
The ontogeny of pycnidium formation in M. phaseoli was investigated. Pycnidium primordia were initiated as hyphal rings or mycelia knots. Hyphal rings were formed by several hyphae looping around each other. The ring primordium in its earliest stages resembled a hyphal coil. Other primordia developed from mycelial knots in a compound meristogenous or symphogenous manner. Once initiated most primorida developed into mature fruiting bodies within 3 days. The morphological characteristics of mature pycnidia were not influenced by variations in the primordia. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
