Abstract
Rats were given an opportunity to choose between a novel and a familiar tactile stimulus in a T maze. Hungry Ss and thirsty Ss chose the novel stimulus more often than did nondeprived rats. There were differences due to nature of deprivation and sex, and interactions between these variables.
