Abstract
Creatine phosphokinase activity was estimated by an automated colorimetric procedure in plasma samples from 27 barrows and gilts in two breeds of the University of Wisconsin swine herd. Variation of duplicate samples was ± 2.04%, and an intraclass correlation for samples collected 5 consecutive days was .64. Creatine phosphokinase activity was also estimated in plasma sampled from 280 boars and gilts, representing five breeds, from purebred and commercial swine herds in Wisconsin and from 147 boars at a swine testing station. The data suggest that a single plasma sample collected and analyzed by the methods described provides a representative estimate of CPK activity in swine. Copyright © 1975.
