Abstract
There are more than 20 randomized trials that compare laparoscopic with open hernia repair. Results of these show a longer operating time, less postoperative pain, a faster return to normal activity, and increased costs for laparoscopic over open hernia repair. Recurrence rates are lower for laparoscopic compared with open nonmesh repairs. Copyright © 1998 by W. B. Saunders CompanyKeywords
