Abstract
Trace enrichment and high performance liquid chromatography have been examined for the determination of metal ions in the low picogram/milliliter range. The metal ions are enriched on a short bonded-phase ion exchanger and then separated on a 13μm styrenedivenylbenzene resin. The results of recovery studies are given for a number of test metal ions and some example applications are illustrated. Techniques for the control of such problems as sample stability, memory effects, and contamination from reagents, tubing, pump components, and sample containers are discussed.
