Confirmatory Test for the High Pressure Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Aflatoxin B1

Abstract
The iodine derivative of aflatoxin B1 was determined by reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection. Aqueous solutions of aflatoxin B1 were chromatographed on a Bondapak C18 column with methanol–water before and after treatment with iodine. A 4.5-min shift in retention time and a 25-fold increase in fluorescence resulted from the reaction.
