Confirmatory Test for the High Pressure Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Aflatoxin B1

Abstract

The iodine derivative of aflatoxin B₁ was determined by reverse phase high pressure liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection. Aqueous solutions of aflatoxin B₁ were chromatographed on a Bondapak C₁₈ column with methanol–water before and after treatment with iodine. A 4.5-min shift in retention time and a 25-fold increase in fluorescence resulted from the reaction.
