Abstract
High resolution Brillouin spectra of the inert gases argon, neon, and helium have been studied at low pressures. Excellent agreement is found with spectral profiles S (k,ω) computed from the Boltzmann equation via kinetic modeling. The results demonstrate the validity of the scaling property of the inert gas spectra when parameterized by one transport coefficient related to the size of the atoms. Keywords
