Abstract
To the Editor: In relation to a letter by Kidd et al. in the Journal (290:972, 1974), we have studied a 40-year-old man, who at 29 years of age complained of epigastric heaviness and slow digestion, diffuse abdominal pain with intestinal noises and occasional diarrhea. He had had an episode of melena at least once. A gastroduodenal x-ray study revealed a duodenal ulcer, and he was treated with antacids and sedatives, after which his condition got better.Twelve years later, a physician discovered by chance that the patient had an enlargement of the right hilus, and he was readmitted to . . .
