Abstract
Suppose a spatial‐temporal process is observed at a fixed network of sites at a number of observation times. The process is modeled as the sum of a random field fixed in time plus a second independent random field that varies both spatially and temporally. We (essentially) assume that values of this second field taken at two different observation times are uncorrelated. Using this model, we obtain a simple expression for the kriging predictor of this process. This model also suggests a method of prediction of the average change in time in the process over a region. Keywords
