In former attempts to explain the development of beach cusps, stress has been laid on the erosion of the beach. It is argued in this paper that concomitant deposition on the horns is at least equally important. Refraction of the swash in building the cusps in emphasized, and an attempt is made to explain the rhythmic, roughly equidimensional nature of cusps.
