Abstract
Following a general introduction, the literature on sealing anodic oxide films on aluminium is critically reviewed to give an up-to-date survey of the subject. After a condensed account of the general structure of anodic oxide films on aluminium, a more detailed review of the various methods of sealing is given. It is evident that, although the nature of the unsealed film is fairly well understood, relatively little is known of the mechanism of sealing. Keywords
