Abstract
Effects of antisymmetrical nearest neighbor interaction along the distinguished direction in a statistical lattice model with two Ising variables are preliminarily examined in the molecular field approximation. At zero temperature this interaction can stabilize the phase with the modulation period 4 and at finite temperatures, successive transitions to phases with longer periods of modulation, also incommensurate ones, are possible, just like in the model with a single Ising variable but with the next nearest neighbor interaction (ANNNI model). Both the discussed and the ANNNI models are considered as complementary in interpretation of modulated phases observed in the A′A′BX4-type compounds. Keywords
