Abstract
The severe outbreak of red-banded leaf roller [Argyrotaenia velutinana] which started in New York in 1947 continued in the major fruit belts of the State in 1948. There were 2 broods in all sections with a partial 3d in the lower Hudson Valley. First brood fruit injury ran up to 50% in orchards which sustained heavy losses in 1947. Lead arsenate, DDT, parathion and petroleum oil provided some control of the 1st brood but parathion and DDT were the most efficient. These materials and also chlordane, chlorinated camphene, dichlorodiphenyl dichlorethane, or DDD, tetra-ethyl pyrophosphate and methoxychlor were tested against 2d brood. DDD was outstanding but lead arsenate, parathion and DDT were also effective. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
