Abstract
Christiansen, J. & Nielsen, O. V. Surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis. Scand. J. Gastroent. 1974, 9, 539–542. Sixteen patients were operated upon for chronic pancreatitis, dominated by pain, with ductal drainage or excision of diseased pancreas or a combination of both. The procedure was chosen for each individual patient based upon the extent of calcifications demonstrable at X-ray, the gross findings at surgery, and upon operative pancreatography. Aften a mean follow-up period of 4 years, 10 patients were cured, 2 improved, and 3 unchanged or worse. It is concluded, that the choice of the surgical procedure according to the actual pathology is a rational practise in the surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis. Keywords
